Sony Pictures Television announced, on Thursday (9), that it will produce a new series derived from The Panthersa famous franchise launched in the 1970s. The highlight, however, was the version of the story of the special agents, which will be Brazilian and with a more teen feel (adolescent) — very reminiscent of the famous series Three spy awesome, design that the generation of the 2000s should remember.

The Brazilian series of Charlie’s Angels:

  • As reported by Deadline, actress and screenwriter Suzana Pires (Sol Nascente) will be responsible for production;
  • The story will follow three teenagers from different backgrounds and realities recruited to a spy school;
  • For now, there is no information about distribution or cast (but it will, of course, use national artists);
  • According to a report from Veja, the production will focus on children and young people.

In an official statement, producer Joe D’Ambrosia stated that the production is supported by “a narrative full of hooks, but which remains true to the original premise of the series: mystery, adventure, comedy and the empowerment of young girls.

The original series of The Pantherswhich ran from 1976 to 1981, marked generations, taking Farrah Fawcett, Kate Johnson and Jaclyn Smith to stardom — at the same time that it transformed the trio into sex symbols of the time.

The production was adapted and revitalized from the 2000s onwards, with the arrival of the feature films As Panthers It is The panthers, haulingreleased in 2000 and 2003. Consolidating actresses Lucy Liu, Drew Barrymore and Cameron Diaz, the films grossed more than US$520 million at the worldwide box office, being considered the franchise’s biggest success.

More recently, however, a remake of the saga with Kristen Stewart, Elizabeth Banks and Ella Balinska did not please fans of previous productions at all. Released in 2019, the film earned just over US$70 million.
