Captain Fausto’s return to the albums is one of this Friday’s highlights. The last album to feature Francisco Ferreira, the band’s keyboardist, “Subida Infinita” features ten songs, one of which, ‘Cantiga Infinita’, with the Brazilian Tim Bernardes. Captain Fausto’s fifth album will give rise to a long tour, to which new dates have recently been added.

About this work, the Lisbon band writes: “The five of us grew up, always together, and embarked on an absolutely unique adventure. We’re still close, like brothers, but Capitão Fausto are now a four-piece band. And goodbyes, even though they are beautiful, never fail to change us.”

Also today arrives “Vou Ficar Neste Quadrado”, the long-awaited first album by Ana Lua Caiano. After two well-received EPs, the Portuguese singer-songwriter, who recently participated in the tribute to the 25th of April, at the Festival da Canção, makes her debut in the long-term format. The album is available today, in digital format, and will be released on vinyl and CD on April 5th, by the German Glitterbeat. The presentation concerts take place at Plano B, in Porto, on April 5th, and at B.leza, in Lisbon, on the 11th of the same month.

“The lyrics of my songs can sometimes seem very personal, but most of them are stories that I invented based on situations, news, conversations that I hear and witness”, writes Ana Lua Caiano. “Some songs are observations about life, like the one that gives the album its title, which addresses the fact that each of us is stuck in our own geometric shape, stuck in our own square, stuck in our routine.”

“Soma” is the title of Branko’s new album. The Portuguese musician counts, in this work, with the participation of Teresa Salgueiro, Carlão and Dino D’Santiago among many others. This Friday, March 15th, Branko also opens the doors of Soma House, a free three-day event at Antù, in Alfama, Lisbon, with DJ sets, debates and gastronomy. The initiative is curated by you.

Branko will present the new album live at Sónar Lisboa, on March 24th; Vila Nova de Famalicão, on May 11th; Pombal, on May 19, and Paredes de Coura, in August.

On the way to their new album, Vampire Weekend revealed ‘Classical’ this week, another sample of “Only God Was Above Us”, in stores on April 5th. Written by vocalist Ezra Koenig, the song follows the singles ‘Gen-X Cops’ and ‘Capricorn’ and has a video by Nick Harwood, the group’s long-time collaborator.

Back in Portugal, HMB today releases “Neste Deserto Nascem Flores”, their new album, with songs such as ‘Sol e Lua’ and ‘Já Não Sou Bom a Mentir’.

In the words of vocalist Héber Marques, “this album marks the closing of a cycle. It’s a kind of group catharsis. After a 15-year career, we found an arid desert in front of us. It’s been a tough journey, but after long kilometers we start to see small flowers appearing. It’s about these desert flowers that we want to tell you.”

Formerly known as Benji Prince, João Maia Ferreira presents, this Friday, the first single from an album that he will sign with his given name. With the participation of Conan Osiris, ‘Gárgulas’ anticipates the album “O Lobo Um Dia Irá Comer A Lua”, to be released this year.

We say goodbye with the return of Bon Jovi, who have just announced their new album, “Forever”. The album arrives on June 7th and has ‘Legendary’ as the first single. Speaking to “Ultimate Classic Rock” magazine, Jon Bon Jovi explained that this song is a tribute to his wife, Dorothea Hurley. “You have been faithfully by my side through all of this,” he explained. As for the album, he described it as “a return to joy. It’s time to turn up the volume!”
