“Tonight is the night”: Macklemore confirmed at Rock in Rio Lisboa – Music

Macklemore is the latest confirmation for the 20th anniversary edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa. The North American rapper will take to Palco Mundo on June 22, joining the Jonas Brothers, Ivete Sangalo and Carolina Deslandes. The performances of James, Filipe Karlsson and Kura on the Galp Stage have also been confirmed for this day.

Winner of several Grammys and singles certified as Diamond, the singer will present his new album, “Ben”, in Cidade do Rock. At the concert, Macklemore promises to remember his biggest hits, such as “Thrift Shop” and “Can’t Hold Us”.

The American’s career began at the age of 15, inspired by East Coast rap icons, later releasing a series of successful mixtapes under the name “The Unplanned Mixtape”. His debut album, “The Language of My World”, arrived in 2005, five years after the EP “Open Your Eyes”. However, it was his partnership with Ryan Lewis that propelled Macklemore to global stardom, especially with the release of “The Heist” in 2012.

Resuming his solo career in 2017, the artist continued to release the album “Gemini”, which featured collaborations with artists such as Kesha, Dan Caplen, Offset and Lil Yachty. More recently, in 2023, Macklemore released “Ben”, which includes the single “No Bad Days”.

The 10th edition of Rock in Rio Lisboa is scheduled for the 15th, 16th, 22nd and 23rd of June 2024, at Parque Tejo-Lisboa, where the new City of Rock will be built and will host the edition celebrating 20 years of the festival in Portugal.
