The third edition of the Solidarity Walk, promoted by Escola Secundária D. Sancho II, which took place this morning on Tuesday, March 19, had close to 200 participants

Food was collected in the Elvas secondary fields for the Movimento Animal association and, even before the match, in addition to a warm-up, there was entertainment with Bomb’ Alem.

Every year an association is chosen, to which the assets raised are donated, reveals professor Telma Rafael, one of the teachers responsible for the organization, adding that this association was chosen “taking into account the citizenship project of one of the classes, in which a One of the themes worked on is animal welfare, which is combined with citizenship, promoting the spirit of solidarity”.

In addition to secondary school students, students from the Senior University and the general population also participated in this walk, who wanted to join the initiative.

The representative of the Associação Movimento Animal, Mónica Figueira, is very “pleased” with this solidarity initiative, mainly because it involves young people, considering that it is important that they “care about animals”.

Mónica Figueira also adds that the association always goes through “many difficulties, and it is difficult to cope with everything because it is volunteers who buy food, among other things”, in order to maintain the well-being of the approximately 80 animals in its care.

Present at the walk was the vice-president of the Chamber of Elvas, Anabela Cartas, who praised the purpose of this initiative. “But once the secondary school goes on this walk that involves several generations and this year they decided, rightly so, to collect food for the Animal Movement, to maintain the spirit of volunteering and awaken them to such a noble cause, which is the animal cause” , she says.

Third edition of the solidarity walk, promoted by Secundária de Elvas, which also included entertainment provided by Roncas D’ Elvas and the support of the Local Health Unit of Alto Alentejo, to monitor the walkers’ health status.
