Singer Duffy returned to post on Instagram four years after revealing that she had been kidnapped, drugged and raped. When exposing the crimes she suffered in 2020, the artist also chose to move away from social media.
The 39-year-old celebrity shared a motivational video about happiness, reproducing an excerpt from the book ‘The Strength In Our Scars’, by writer Bianca Sparacino.

Duffy has two studio albums, ‘Rockferry’ (2008) and ‘Endlessly’ (2010). For her first album, she won the Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album in 2009.
Born in Wales, Duffy announced the suspension of her career in 2011. She resumed her artistic life in 2015, with a cameo in the film ‘Legends of Crime’, also contributing three songs to the work’s soundtrack.
Then, in February 2020, she explained the motivation for her departure, speaking for the first time about the crimes she suffered. She made a post on her official website, saying she had been “raped, drugged and taken hostage over the course of a few days.”
She said she chose to take a professional hiatus to recover from what happened. The artist never revealed the identity of the perpetrator of the crimes she suffered, nor when and where they occurred.
Duffy reported that she was drugged at a restaurant during her birthday party, flown to another country, taken hostage in a hotel room and raped on the spot. She also said that she was counting on the help of doctors in her recovery.
