The municipality of Alandroal, in partnership with the four parish councils in the municipality, is planning a wide range of initiatives linked to the celebrations of the fifty years of the April Revolution with a special focus on the end of April, but which will continue throughout the months following.
According to the Municipality, to mark this historic date for Portugal, the official program includes the carrying out of several initiatives, including the solemn session of the Municipal Assembly, on the 25th, the usual tour of all the localities of the municipality to raise the flag and the inauguration of some works being completed in the municipality.
The cultural program includes a show with Jorge Fernando at the Transborder Cultural Forum, on the evening of the 24th. Midnight will be marked in a special way throughout the municipality.
On the 25th, Castelo do Alandroal hosts a social snack open to the entire population (from 4pm) and a concert with Rui Veloso and his band, in the late afternoon. The night ends with DJs, also in the castle.
For Saturday, the 27th, the highlight is reserved for the young audience, with a performance by DJ Kura, preceded by a concert with the singer Jura.
The nights at the castle count on the collaboration of the Associação Jovem Alandroalense and other associations in the municipality.
The program also includes sporting events, presentations of books published by the municipality, special actions for children and young people in schools and decentralized events throughout the municipality to highlight the importance and achievements of fifty years of freedom and democracy in the municipality.
The municipality invites all residents and visitors to actively participate in the events scheduled to mark, in a special way, the half century of democratic construction in Portugal.
