“Music in general, it shapes your character. How you dress, how you talk, your vibe. For me, Heavy Metal is everything I like, because I’ve always liked the weird, the weird, things that aren’t I love that vibe. I’ve always loved the idea of being different, and [o Metal] it just made me feel alive”, said Damian, who also told how he started to venture into the world of heavy music.

“I grew up in an area that was 100% hip hop [Bronx, Nova York] and, when moving to another city and making new friends, my friend always played Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, a lot of Thrash Metal, but also Swedish influences like In Flames and Soilwork.
This friend put Children Of Bodom on and I thought, ‘OK, some of this stuff is like Undertaker music. [lendário lutador da WWE]! As a wrestler, I was like, ‘Yeah, play Undertaker-style songs! Play these things that make me feel something!’.
But I would say that Metallica and Ozzy were the first [bandas] where I thought, ‘Oh, I love this.’ That’s what really got me hooked on Heavy Metal. [O som] It was simply more powerful for me. And their song lyrics really resonated with me and how I felt, my attitude. I just felt the power go through me: the music, the guitar chords, all of it.”

At another point in the interview, Damian recalled the first Heavy Metal show he attended in his life.
“My first show that my friends took me to was In Flames and Opeth. It was wild. I had never seen a mosh pit. Did I walk right in? Yeah, I walked in there! I was like, ‘Yeah, I can beat up everyone!’ ‘ Haha! I have a horrible memory, but this one lives with me and it was one of the coolest things I ever experienced. L’Amour in Brooklyn, at the time, was a big Heavy Metal place”, concluded Priest.
Finally, the American fighter of Puerto Rican descent spoke about the Heavy Metal bands he is listening to at the moment.

“I really like Soilwork’s new stuff – a lot, in fact – it’s on repeat right now. I’m a big fan of Trivium. I mentioned In Flames; they went through a phase where they were trying to find their new sound, and boy, did they do it now.”
