“I grew up in an area that was 100% hip hop [Bronx, Nova York] and, when moving to another city and making new friends, my friend always played Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, a lot of Thrash Metal, but also Swedish influences like In Flames and Soilwork.

“My first show that my friends took me to was In Flames and Opeth. It was wild. I had never seen a mosh pit. Did I walk right in? Yeah, I walked in there! I was like, ‘Yeah, I can beat up everyone!’ ‘ Haha! I have a horrible memory, but this one lives with me and it was one of the coolest things I ever experienced.
