Rio – Proving to be in better shape than many out there, Madonna put on a real show, at the height of her 65 years, on Copacabana Beach, on Saturday night (4). Although the singer used lip-sync for most of the performance, the Queen of Pop threw herself into the choreography and entertained the audience.

Even with her enviable ease, at times Madonna’s age became apparent. The singer, who rehearsed during the week with a knee brace on her right knee, performed with the same protection, as well as bandages underneath and the other knee was very red. In one of the numbers, the American diva even had slight difficulty getting up from the floor.

52 minutes late, at 10:37 pm, Madonna was welcomed by the crowd with screams and flapping fans. Before taking the stage, the Queen of Pop had her story told by drag queen Bob, who put on a show while wearing a royal outfit from centuries past. Emphatic when talking about the singer, the artist did not hold back on her faces and mouths.

Madonna, who opened the performance with “Nothing Really Matters”, had the show divided into seven parts: ‘It’s a Celebration’, ‘The Storm’, ‘Living for Love’, ‘Ballroom’, ‘The Beast Within’, ‘Madonna ‘ and ‘Billie Jean / Like a Virgin’.

Show starts with nostalgia

To start the show, Madonna wore a black look with hollow circles on the sleeves, as well as a kind of crown that resembles a saint. Soon after, in the second song, the American diva appeared in a 1980s outfit, to the delight of the most experienced fans.

Drinking beer and talking to the audience, Madonna ventured a few words in Portuguese, but revealed that she only knows how to say bad words. To end the chat, the singer threw the beer into the audience.

Madonna paid tribute to figures who died of AIDS

In one of the most moving moments of the show, Madonna sang “Live To Tell” and brought the audience to tears as she paid tribute to important figures who died as a result of AIDS. Among the images on the screen, photos of singers Freddie Mercury, Renato Russo and Cazuza.

Weather break

Completely changing the mood, Madonna and her dancers staged a true ritual before “Like A Prayer”. While some dancers paraded in black capes holding censers, a type of smoker used in the Catholic Church, others simulated a type of crucifixion in a round structure set up at the back of the stage. David Banda, Madonna’s son, appeared for the first time at this time wearing a suit pink and his face completely covered in chains while playing the guitar.

For “Erotica,” Madonna fought bravely with her dancers. On the stage, some boxing rings were set up, made up of columns and lasers. Then, the artist changed the atmosphere once again and heated up the atmosphere. With a version of herself on a bed, the Queen of Pop sensualized and even simulated masturbation.

In “Hung Up”, one of the most anticipated by the public, the audience showed excitement and banged their fans once again. During the song, the dancers performed the choreography with their breasts exposed and there was even a lesbian kiss between Madonna and one of the dancers.

Daughters perform at their mother’s side

“Bad Girl” received a very special guest for Madonna. Mercy James, 18 years old, daughter of the American diva, took to the stage to play the piano alongside her mother. Soon after, in “Vogue”, Estere, another daughter of the singer, aged 11, was the DJ who entertained the crowd. For the song, the Queen of Pop wore a corset studded with the colors of the Brazilian flag.

Still in “Vogue”, Madonna received an illustrious visit from Anitta, who took to the stage to judge the dancers. Appearing to be genuinely enjoying herself, the Rio singer displayed signs with the number 10 to the dancers. In one of the moments, one of the dancers showed off a thong studded with the Brazilian flag.

As if being a DJ wasn’t enough, Estere also showed all her talent for dancing and ended up choreographing with vogue steps, a style born in the LGBT community where poses and the famous ‘faces and mouths’ are free.

In “Human Nature”, Madonna was “arrested” by her dancers. The song is one of the only songs that the pop diva sings live. During the performance, she uttered another swear word in Portuguese. To end another act, at the end of “Crazy For You” the artist literally set the stage on fire and real flames emerged after she struck a fake match.

Stella, Estere’s twin, was also not left out of her mother’s show. In “Don’t Tell Me”, the 11-year-old girl shined when dancing alongside Madonna. Afterwards, the Queen of Pop had another chat with her fans.

Madonna thanks Brazilians for their affection

She thanked her Brazilian fans for their support and affection and said that the love they feel makes her want to cry. “I feel the love of Brazilians in my heart and in my b*cet*”, she joked, saying she sees Brazilians everywhere.

In addition to Brazilians, Madonna also thanked the support she receives from the LGBT community. “Without fear, I will fight for you until the day I die”, she declared, and then asked fans to turn on their flashlights, forming a sea of lights on the sands of Copacabana Beach.

Son shows off six-pack abs

With the lights of the public’s lanterns illuminating Madonna, the song “Let It Shine” was another song that was sung live by the artist. In “Mother and Father”, David Banda took the stage again to play alongside his mother. This time, the 18-year-old showed off his six-pack while playing the guitar shirtless and wearing a cowboy hat, as well as black pants with silver inserts.

Brazilianism invades the stage

In “Music”, Brazilianness invaded Madonna’s stage. First, children representing Rio de Janeiro’s samba schools entered playing musical instruments characteristic of the groups, such as agogô, surdo and Caixa, duly stickered with the schools’ logos.

Then, Pabllo Vittar, who rehearsed during the week alongside Madonna, appeared on stage wearing a studded Brazil shirt. The Queen of Pop got into the spirit and also wore a Brazil shirt. Meanwhile, on the screen, images of Brazilian artists, personalities and indigenous people made up the presentation. At the end, the screen displayed an image of the Brazilian flag and the two artists also danced with the flag.

King and Queen of Pop ‘meet’

Before the last song, the audience was treated to a taste of the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson. In a montage, without Madonna on stage, the screen displayed the silhouettes of Michael and Madonna while the songs “Billie Jean” and “Like a Virgin” mixed together.

Ending the show to the sound of “Bitch I’m Madonna”, the Queen of Pop waved the Brazilian flag once again and ended the performance in style with a giant round structure around her.
