The presence of a swarm of bees in the room above three-year-old Saylor Class’s room terrified the girl. Shortly after watching the Pixar film ‘Monsters Inc.’, the girl reported to her parents that there was a monster in her room. What the parents didn’t know was that the bugs were the monster.
The girl lives with her parents on a farm in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. At first Ashley Massis Class, the child’s mother, and her father, who did not identify himself, didn’t believe it, mainly because they had watched Monsters Inc. shortly before. The information is from the BBC.
The parents gave the girl some spray to spray “in case the monster came” that night. Over the months, Saylor continued to complain about her fear of monsters.
At one point, the parents decided to look at what could be ailing the girl and found a swarm of bees clustered near the attic and the chimney outside the house. They then called a pest control company.
Company employees discovered that the bees were protected by the US, so they called a beekeeper, who used a thermal camera to inspect the site.
Right above Saylor’s room was a very large beehive, which was built over the course of about eight months. It was necessary to tear down parts of the wall to remove the more than 55 thousand bees, in addition to the 45 kg of honeycombs.
Three reverse aspiration extractions were carried out to place the insects in boxes. They were transferred to a “bee sanctuary”.
The bees and honey damaged the house’s electrical wiring, in addition to the collapsed walls. In the end, Saylor’s monster became a terror for the parents, who had 20 thousand dollars (R$ 103.4 thousand, at current prices) to contain the losses.
