The Ministry of Justice, through the National Consumer Secretariat (Senacon), took measures, this Wednesday (24), following the tragic death of a dog during poorly executed transport by the airline Gol and which gained great repercussion across Brazil .

The incident occurred when the five-year-old golden retriever named Joca was supposed to be transported from São Paulo to Sinop, in Mato Grosso. However, he was mistakenly sent to Fortaleza, Ceará. After the error, the dog was transported back to Guarulhos International Airport, but unfortunately it arrived dead.

The video of the owner crying over the animal’s death caught the attention of social media and generated outrage, including from many people in the political class, such as First Lady Janja da Silva (PT).

The secretary of Senacon, Wadih Damus, expressed the need for a detailed investigation into the case, emphasizing that situations like this cannot go unanswered. “We cannot accept that situations like these continue to happen,” he declared, indicating the seriousness of the error committed and the need for corrective measures.

The notification sent to Gol requires Gollog, the company responsible for transporting Gol’s cargo, to clarify the methods used to transport animals. In addition, Senacon also wants to know more about the company’s transport policy and the reparation actions planned for Joca’s owners, in response to the animal’s death. The company will have to provide clarifications and take measures to prevent tragedies like this from recurring in the future.
