In a joint statement, Simone and Arjen said: “‘Aeterna’ is the album’s epic and grandiose opening track, accompanied by an incredible music video. It certainly harks back to Epica and Ayreon’s signature sound, combining Latin lyrics with a hint of oriental sound. We seek to balance the powerful and bombastic elements with more atmospheric moments. As it is the first song that the public will hear from this album, it is extremely important for us and we are eager for everyone to enjoy it!

The song takes the perspective of a star about to go supernova, exploring the interconnectedness of everything in the universe, like a cosmic web woven by stardust. It addresses our deepest emotions, consciousness and other mysteries of life that science is not yet able to fully explain. In essence, ‘Aeterna’ is a reflection on our place in the vast cosmos and the ties that unite us, after all, as Carl Sagan said, we are all ‘made of star stuff’.”

Pre-ordering the album is now available.
