Pedro Scooby displays an impressive view of flooding in Eldorado do Sul, RS

Surfer Pedro Scooby took to social media in the early hours of this Tuesday (8), to share impressive images of the situation in the city of Eldorado do Sul, one of the most affected by the floods caused by the storms that hit Rio Grande do Sul. The former -BBB is part of a group of surfers specialized in giant waves who went from Rio de Janeiro to the state in the south of the country to help rescue the victims.

“View of Eldorado today [manhã de segunda (7)] early,” he wrote in the video recorded from a helicopter flying over the city. Despite being just a few seconds long, the record shows that a large part of the city is underwater, with only the roofs of most properties being visible, or the upper floors of taller buildings.

Scooby’s friend and part of group that helps with rescues in RSfellow surfer Willyam Santana reported that factions are preventing residents from leaving flooded areas. Athletes have shared reports and images of rescues which, to date, are focused on the city of Eldorado do Sul.

Floods in RS

The Civil Defense of Rio Grande do Sul updated, also this Tuesday (8), to 100 the number of dead due to the storms that affected 80% of the state. The most recent bulletin also points out that there are other deaths under investigation, while 120 people were also reported missing and around 372 injured.

The team’s first stop was in the city of Eldorado do Sul, which has 40 thousand inhabitants and is practically entirely underwater. In images posted this evening, Scooby showed the moment he rescued children and adults. See images herei.
