Triathlete Joana Miranda will participate in the 2nd Women’s Cycling Tour of Portugal that will be on the road between June 16th and 19th, representing the Korpo Activo/Penacova team.

After the sporting and social success of the historic first edition, the Women’s Tour of Portugal will have the 2nd edition that crosses five intermunicipal communities: Lisbon Metropolitan Area and the intermunicipal communities of Oeste, Médio Tejo, Leiria Region and Aveiro Region.

Joana Miranda will belong to the Volta peloton, which will have about 100 athletes, of various nationalities, distributed among 17 national and international teams. Among the national teams are the 5Quinas/Municipality of Albufeira/CDASJ, Cantanhede Cycling/VESAM, Discover Melgaço/União Ciclista de Melgaço, KORPO ACTIVO/PENACOVA, Maiatos and Sicasal/Glassdrive. To these six teams are added four mixed teams, formed by runners from different teams that do not participate in the event. They are Paredes/Alenquer/Mato-Cheirinhos/D’Helvetia, Proteu/Retorta/Efapel, Velo Performance/Extremosul and the National Junior and Under-23 Team.

The Platoon will also have seven foreign teams; The Spanish Kiwi Atlántico Louriña, Massi Tactic Women’s Team, Zaaf Cycling Team and Seleccion Catalana, the British RFDA and Team LDN/Brother UK, and the French Team Groupe Abadie Le Boulou.

The race starts on the 16th with a prologue, in Loures, which will be in the form of an individual time trial. Being the first stage in line on the 17th, starting in Vila Franca de Xira and ending in Torres Vedras.

In the second stage, the runners will travel from Monte Redondo, in the municipality of Leiria, to Ourém, where Joana Miranda will enter her district of Santarém where she expects everyone’s support. This route includes the first mountain prize of the race.

The queen stage will be the last on the 19th of June, with a distance of 104.7 kilometers between Aveiro and Anadia. The race ends with two rounds of the circuit that will host the European Championship long-distance events, organized by the Portuguese Cycling Federation between June 30 and July 19.

Joana Miranda, being a triathlete since the age of nine, accepted this challenge and adventure with great pleasure, in which she will participate with all her dedication and known sacrifice.
