António Costa was speaking at the PS rally in Porto, which filled the Rosa Mota pavilion, in a speech in which he defended the legacy of his governments, accused the current Democratic Alliance (AD) of “impreparation”, contrasting with the executive experience of the current socialist leader , Pedro Nuno Santos, and warning of the risks and complexity of the international scenario.

The executive leader began by mentioning that his governments have already been evaluated twice in legislative elections.
“In 2019, we were evaluated for the way we turned the page on austerity and we did better; We were evaluated in 2022 for the way we faced the Covid-19 pandemic and we performed excellently,” he said, alluding to the absolute majority of the PS.
Afterwards, António Costa criticized the way in which the current legislature was interrupted, saying that the current executive should only be evaluated within two years.
“We are in the slightly strange situation of the student who is subject to an exam even when the second period has not even ended. For those like Pedro Nuno Santos who is from Porto, we are in that situation where the game with Santa Clara had ended after 40 minutes” with the Azoreans still beating FC Porto, he said.
