PSD admits Rectification to return service time to teachers | True time

In an interview with PÚBLICO-Renascença, the vice-president of the PSD admits that the diploma for the return of frozen service time to teachers could be presented in the Assembly of the Republic before the State Budget for 2025. He does not explain, however, whether it will be necessary to do so an Amending Budget to accommodate more expenses, remembering that the PS has always made it difficult to provide information on public accounts.

Another important measure for the PSD is the recovery of teachers’ service time. Will it be possible to do this this year without an Amending Budget?
From a theoretical point of view, yes. The question is whether or not there is a change in the total volume of the budget.

In principle there will be, right?
There may not be any, we have to see the gaps, we have to see CGD’s dividends, we have to see captivations, they are there. We will only know after reaching the government.

Is the recovery of teachers’ service time part of the priority measures to take place in the first few months?
The priority is health. But they are all priorities in the sense that the country is not doing well. Luís Montenegro said that as soon as he took office he would start talking to the sectors of society that feel injustice. He didn’t just talk about teachers, he talked about careers in health, he talked about police officers. A priority to heal the wounds of this country that is so angry and often legitimately is to talk to the various sectors. The social state does not exist in an ethereal form. It exists because there are doctors, nurses, teachers, court officials, public prosecutors. If these people are not motivated, well paid, if they do not feel justice in the way they are treated, there is no social state. It collapses.

Pedro Nuno Santos has already said he is available for justice reform. Will it also be one of the priorities?
I don’t know, justice reform can’t be done in 60 days.

Regarding the new Lisbon airport, we already have the final report. Rosário Partidário came to ask for a consensus between PSD and PS. It will be possible?
It has already been said by Luís Montenegro that it will be a priority in the first weeks.

Will the Prime Minister call the PS leader before making the decision?
It is the Prime Minister’s decision and, therefore, I do not want to anticipate anything on this topic. We are now analyzing the report, which is vast.
