With ABC already out of the title and Benfica no longer dependent on itself, FC Porto and Sporting play this Saturday (8 p.m.) in an important game at the conclusion of the first round of the final phase of the Championship (Group A).

At Dragão, the four-time champions have an imperative need to stop their rival, but Sporting is favoritism, with a total of 24 victories in the competition and 4 points ahead of the Invicta club.

The Lions’ coach, Ricardo Costa, wants to resolve the issue: “We have a great opportunity, in a great game, to win three more points and that’s what we’re going to do. We’re a much more mature team, although we know that FC Porto will have a very strong response.”

FC Porto’s pivot, Daymaro Salina, calls for effective defense to stop one against one of Costa’s brothers: “We are correcting our mistakes and ready for battle. It is very difficult to see weaknesses in Sporting, they have had a very good season, without defeats, but now they may have their first. The team is motivated and confident that they will win.”

In the other game on the 3rd round, Benfica will host ABC at 4pm.

Group A classification: 1st Sporting, 39 points; 2nd FC Porto, 35; 3rd Benfica, 31; 4th ABC, 27.
