“Stable government and solid majority”: group of PSD activists calls for agreement with Chega

-

A group of seven PSD activists signed a manifesto calling for a right-wing government solution with Chega. For example, former minister Rui Gomes da Silva is part of this group.

In the manifesto, which goes by the name “Portugal em Primeiro”, the social democratic activists note that the legislative elections held on the 10th “are the most legitimized in the last 29 years” as they registered the lowest abstention since 1995 For this reason, they consider, “its results must be analyzed with proportional responsibility”.

“A right-wing government solution is imperative”

In this sense, they believe that “focus, responsibility and a sense of State” are necessary so that it is possible to build “a stable Government, with a solid majority, that can carry out the necessary reforms”. Otherwise, they point out, the country will have unstable governments that “will not serve the country’s interests in any way.”

“For all of this, a right-wing government solution is imperative, without fear and much less conditioned by what the extreme left wants”, the manifesto reads.

They conclude by saying that they see the PSD as an “aggregating force” that leads the alternative to socialism and that, like “many Portuguese”, they will not be on the left side.

“Only an agreement, which guarantees a stable government, with solid commitments for four years, puts Portugal’s interests first”, they stress.

To Diário de Notícias and TSF, the former Minister of Parliamentary Affairs said he believes that Luís Montenegro will reconsider the “no is no” in favor of stability.
