Montenegro offered places, Rocha wanted measures: there is no agreement between PSD and IL, but they commit to maintaining “dialogue”

-

The taboo has been lifted: there is no Government agreement between PSD and IL. After negotiations in recent days, the leadership of the two parties announced, in a joint statement, that there are no conditions to move forward at this time with the “celebration of broad understandings” for the formation of the new Executive, which will be announced on Thursday. The possibility of a joint list for the European elections is also left aside, so the liberals continue with their already chosen head of the list, Cotrim Figueiredo.

Social Democrats and Liberals understand, however, that dialogue must be maintained during the legislature, “committing to discuss, whenever justified, the best solutions on matters relevant to the lives and future of the Portuguese”. In other words, Rui Rocha’s base scenario remains, evaluating the Government’s proposals ‘case by case’.
