Elections in Turkey: Erdogan’s defeat “is heavy” and could have “influence on future general elections”

In Türkiye, the local elections were marked by defeat of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s party in the main cities, Ankara and Istanbul.

For Ricardo Alexandre, SIC commentator, this is a “heavy defeat”since Tayyip Erdogan’s objective was to “get your party to govern these cities again” and may have “influence for future general elections, as Erdogan is in his last term”.

About the Middle East and the impasse regarding negotiationsthe SIC commentator reinforces that Hamas has positions increasingly distant from Israel so that an agreement can be negotiated.

According to the international press, Israel and the USA may have a virtual meeting to discuss the military operation in the south of the Gaza Strip, and they claim that the USA may have an alternative, however for the commentator “There are no scenarios to support the possibility of that population being removed that part of the territory safely, especially because the fighting has also continued in the center of Gaza”.
