Bugalho guarantees that he will fulfill his mandate until the end and challenges his opponents to do the same

The head of the list Democratic Alliance (AD) to the European elections ensures that he will fulfill his mandate in the European Parliament. Sebastião Bugalho, however, leaves the idea in the air that the same may not be true regarding other candidates for the European Championships.

“I will fulfill my mandate. I hope that my opponents can also leave this commitment”, he declared, this afternoon, during the delivery of the list of AD candidates to the Europeans to the Constitutional Court.

The head of the PS list, Marta Temido – who, until recently, was tipped as the next socialist candidate for the Lisbon council -, admitted an autarchic “seduction”, saying only that “at this moment” he has “no plans” to exchange Europe for Lisbon.

Did Marcelo call it “improvisation”? “He is the improvisation par excellence”

Sebastião Bugalho also claims that he does not see in the words of Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, who labeled him as an “improvisation” candidate, a criticism. Bugalho considers that the President of the Republic himself is a fan of improvisation.

“Mr. President of the Republic has nothing against improvisations. He is the improviser par excellence, every day”, said the AD candidate.

“I’m sure I wasn’t criticizing this candidacy in any way”assured Sebastião Bugalho, when asked about the statements by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in a meeting with foreign journalists, which raised several controversies last week.

In addition to classifying the way AD’s European candidate was chosen, the head of state criticized the Attorney General of the Republic, classified Luís Montenegro as “rural” and António Costa as “slow” and also raised the issue of historical reparations to former -colonies. But, about all this, Sebastião Bugalho refuses to talk.

“I understand that you already miss my role as commentator, but I’m not going to comment,” he declared.

Does not fear contamination by controversies from the AD Government

The head of the list of the Democratic Alliance to the Europeans claims not to fear that controversies with the Government, such as the reduction of the IRScontaminate the electoral campaign.

“I don’t have any fear, and I don’t have any concerns either”, he assured, highlighting that the Prime Minister is “implementing the Government’s program”.

“The campaign is up to me”, stressed Sebastião Bugalho, noting that any appearance by Luís Montenegro in the European campaign will not be a “contamination”, but rather “a contribution”.

Sebastião Bugalho also assumes full responsibility for a possible defeat in these elections.

“When someone applies for something, it’s that person’s responsibility,” he noted.

Sebastião Bugalho stressed that the list on which he is running “it is not a list to reform anyone or to launch anyoneis a list to defend the Portuguese in Europe”.

The revelation of the AD’s electoral program for the European elections will take place, informs Sebastião Bugalho, during the week of Europe Day, celebrated on May 9th.
