Only after taking office at the club can a shareholders’ meeting be requested for the new squad to take up positions at SAD
André Villas-Boas will not yet be president of FC Porto’s SAD in the Portuguese Cup final, on May 26, at Jamor. In view of the deadlines imposed by the Commercial Companies Code and the Securities Code, the decision for the premier event will still take place with Pinto da Costa in office as the head of professional football for the Dragons.
Second Record found, the fact that Villas-Boas’s inauguration as president of FC Porto is scheduled for next week means that the new management cannot accelerate the succession process at SAD. From the moment it assumes office, and headed by the company’s largest shareholder, AVB must request the scheduling of the mandatory main meeting with Lourenço Pinto. The acting president of the SAD MAG has, by law, a period of 15 days to make the appointment. Even if it is done very quickly, the 21 calendar day minimum notice period for the shareholders’ meeting prevents the succession process from being completed in a timely manner.
This scenario should even create a protocol imbroglio at the National Stadium. It is FC Porto, Futebol SAD that is registered in the official competitions, but the fact is that the blue and whites will have two presidents legally in office. Pinto da Costa thus aspires to lift the 3rd consecutive Portuguese Cup, the last trophy in a long trophy.
Two-headed dragon worries elected officials
The squad led by André Villas-Boas is seriously concerned about the delay in taking up duties at SAD. On the table is a period that could go beyond three weeks with a two-headed leadership at a critical stage of preparation for 2024/25. AVB was elected with more than 80% of the members’ votes, but the collaboration of the current cast is pending to gain access to the SAD dossiers. If the outgoing administration opts for a blockade, there is fear that this will harm the immediate future.
