The Renault Symbioz is an SUV just 4.41 meters long, but capable of carrying five adults and which aims to take on a prominent place among family cars, of which, throughout the brand’s history French, the Renault 16, launched in 1965, or the Espace, which has been in the spotlight since 1984, stands out.

To this end, the upcoming Symbioz proves capable of adapting the trunk and cabin to the family’s needs, arriving with useful technologies that are reflected in the multipurpose use it aims for. Positioned between the Captur (4.23m) and the Austral (4.51m), the Symbioz aims to be another answer in the disputed C segment, while also embracing electrification, with the hybrid variant E-Tech E- full Hybrid 145 .

The Renault Symbioz features balanced proportions, topped off by a vertical front and rear, which support the latest aesthetic evolution and, at the same time, provide space in the cabin. Based on the expanded version of the CMF-B modular platform, used by the Clio and Captur (B segment), as well as the Arkana (C segment), the Symbioz was sculpted with the features of Renault’s new design language, in which the clean edges of the front and back panels, letting the play of light and shadow do its work. The new Renault logo is omnipresent in different forms: in the center of the grille, in the light signature or in the graphic pattern that outlines the radiator grille for “a 3D effect”.

At the front, slim headlights are connected by a black strip that makes the vehicle appear wider. It should be noted that all the wheels (standard, 18″; in the Esprit Alpine and Iconic versions, 19″) are new and exclusive to this model, with lines that make the wheels appear even when the vehicle is stationary. be spinning.

But what impresses most is the interior space and modularity. Despite its compact exterior dimensions, the Symbioz offers generous interior space, combining a layout modular with a bench seat, something that transforms the second row into a space that can actually accommodate three adults. Additionally, the rear seat has been designed to slide 16cm, creating 221mm of knee room for rear passengers, whilst maintaining a boot capacity of 492 liters in this configuration. When the rear seats are not occupied by adults, they can be slid forward, increasing the boot capacity to 624 liters.

In materials, there are differences in each equipment version: in Techno, the seats are upholstered in a thick fabric with a discreet embroidered logo, yellow stitching and yellow and gray piping; the Esprit Alpine’s seats feature blue stitching and embossed TEP side panels, while the backrests and seat cushions are upholstered in the same high-tech sports fabric as the interior door panels and instrument panel; and, in the Iconic version, the seats are made of fabric high-tech wide knit, inspired by the world of high-quality sports equipment, but with features that give it a sophisticated touch.

In addition, there is a wide range of features that contribute to comfort on board, such as the Solarbay sunroof in tinted glass and the electric tailgate. But also a series of already known technologies, such as the OpenR Link multimedia system with Google incorporated or a series of driving aids (in the Iconic version, there are 29, including Active Driver Assist, ie, level 2 autonomous driving, and adaptation intelligent speed).

In terms of mechanics, the Renault Symbioz can be configured with the E-Tech 145 hybrid powertrain, which is based on a series-parallel hybrid architecture, which combines two electric motors with a 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder gasoline engine, managed by a clutchless multi-mode intelligent gearbox.

Symbioz, revealed this Thursday, is expected to hit the market later this year, but, for now, there are no announced prices yet.
