THE Public Security Police are carrying out, in the early hours of this Sunday, a police operation to prevent crime in the area of Cais do Sodré, Bairro Alto and Rua Cintura do Porto de Lisboa, through inspections and searches outside the home.
According to a statement from the Lisbon Metropolitan Command of the PSP, “these actions aim to prevent and combat violent and serious crime and to strengthen the feeling of security in the Nightlife Zones”.
According to CNN Portugal, there have already been four arrests of security guards in night spaces and the bars on the so-called pink street, in Cais Sodré, have been closed.
It should be noted that this operation “has the presence of a judicial magistrate and the collaboration of the ASAE” and that various aspects of the PSP are involved in it, “namely, Criminal Investigation, Rapid Intervention Teams, Prevention and Immediate Reaction Teams, Traffic , Private Security and Inspection, as well as the Special Police Unit”.
