Fiorentina’s general director, Joe Barone, died this Tuesday, aged 57, two days after suffering a heart attack, which led to the postponement of the Italian Football League game with Atalanta, the club announced.

“It is with deep sadness and consternation that Fiorentina confirms the loss of one of its leading figures, a person who marked the club’s recent history and who will never be forgotten,” the club informed ‘Fiore’ on the official website.

Fiorentina expressed itself “devastated by the terrible loss of a man who demonstrated great professionalism and was with his heart and soul” for the club, showing himself to be “always strong, both in happy moments and, above all, in difficult moments “.

Joe Barone suffered a heart attack in Bergamo, shortly before the start of the match against Atalanta, in the 29th round of the transalpine championship, and was transported by helicopter to the São Rafael hospital, in Milan.

Fiorentina, which occupies ninth place in Serie A, now with one less game played, immediately requested the postponement of the game, with Atalanta and the Italian League accepting the request to play the match later, on a date to be defined.
