Paulinho is having a great season. After another crucial goal in the team’s Sportingsetting the tone for the turnaround in Amadora, against Estrela (2-1), the lions’ forward is once again looking for a place in the starting line-up, this time against Benfica.
According to Record, Rúben Amorim will not make any changes to the attacking front which, in addition to the ’20 jersey’, should feature Francisco Trincão and Viktor Gyokeres. The trio has been lethal and has shown work in recent matches, being rewarded by the team’s coach Sporting.
Paulinho takes advantage of Pedro Gonçalves’ absence to secure a place in the starting eleven and is close to the best mark of his career (25 goals), and is, at the moment, having the best performance with the green and white List since arriving in Alvalade, in 2020/21.
This season, Paulinho – valued at 6.5 million euros – takes 37 matches (1,902 minutes): 23 in the Portugal Betclic League (999), seven in the Europa League (430), four in the Portuguese Cup (271) and three in the League Cup (202). The forward from Rúben Amorim’s team scored 17 goals and made five assists.
Since arriving at Sporting, from Braga in exchange for 13 million euros for 70% of the economic rights, in January 2021, Paulinho has recorded 135 matches, 49 accurate finishes, 20 assists and three titles won: a National Championship (2020/ 21), a League Cup (2021/22) and a Cândido de Oliveira Super Cup (2021). The forward has a contract until June 2026 and a release clause of 65 million euros.
