In a press conference, hours after Artur Jorge’s departure was made official, António Salvador informed, this Wednesday, that Daniel Sousa will be the coach of Sp. Braga from next season onwards.

The Portuguese coach will sign for two seasons, having revealed to the Braga leader that the main objective was an immediate change, but Arouca asked for one million euros for the transfer, meaning he will only join Sp. Braga at the start of the next season.

Daniel Sousa, André Villas-Boas’ former assistant, is currently in his second season as head coach, after also coaching Gil Vicente last season (13th). This season he managed to take Arouca to seventh place, a place where he still finds himself.

It should be noted that this announcement was made on the eve of the game between Sp. Braga and Arouca, a club that is currently coached by Daniel Sousa.

«I make this public announcement, aware that it in no way interferes with what remains of the season, particularly this weekend’s game. No one who is serious can think that our opponent’s coach won’t do everything in his power to make our task difficult. I’m sure that will be the case”, said António Salvador about the announcement of Daniel Sousa as the next coach.

The president of Sp. Braga also announced that Rui Duarte, current coach of the Minho under-23s, will take charge of the team until the end of the season, commanding the main squad in the remaining seven games.
