Current Arouca coach announced by António Salvador; contract valid for two seasons
The coach of SC Braga in 2024/25 will be Daniel Sousa, informed the president of SAD, António Salvador, in a press conference.
The coach, currently at Arouca, has a commitment valid for two years. For now, the SC Braga team will be temporarily coached by Rui Duarte, who was on the under-23 team.
It should be noted that SC Braga’s next game will be against Daniel Sousa’s Arouca.
«We reflected on the desired profile for the SC Braga project. We are convinced of this option. From the 2024/25 season onwards, Daniel Sousa will be the coach of SC Braga», announced António Salvador.
The president of the Minho team also revealed that Arouca asked for 1 million euros to release Daniel Sousa this season, in the remaining seven games: «We are not going to pay compensation to Arouca because he is at the end of his contract. Arouca asked for 1 million euros for 7 games…. The record remained. Being a free coach, we negotiated a contract for next season last night.”
For now, it is Rui Duarte, until now coach of the under-23s, who takes over the main team: «Rui Duarte has done a very competent job with the under-23s. He will have our full support in these final 7 rounds. He is 100 percent focused on achieving the best possible finish in the championship. The fans will be decisive for us to achieve our goals. Let’s give the proof of unity that the club needs.”
Rui Duarte’s technical team will be composed of: Pedro Costa (assistant coach), Rúben Teles (assistant coach), Rafael Pessoa (physical trainer), Frederico Carmo (assistant coach), Eduardo Carvalho (goalkeeping coach), and Orlando Silva (goalkeeper coach).
