Andreas Schjelderup is ready to return to Benfica next season. After being signed from Nordsjaelland in 2022/23, in exchange for nine million euros, the Norwegian winger was unable to establish himself in the squad under Roger Schmidt’s orders, having returned to the Danish club at the start of the current season.
In 2023/24, Schjelderup has made the most of his temporary return, registering seven goals and ten assists in the 32 official games played for Nordsjaelland.
The 19-year-old was a prominent figure in the last game for the Danish league, where he contributed to Nordsjaelland’s 7-2 defeat of AGF Arghus, with three goals and one assist.
After the match, Schjelderup stated that he intends to return to Benfica at the start of the next season.
“I’m going back to Benfica and I’m very excited,” said the player to ‘Danmarks Radio’.
The winger’s good performances have not escaped Stale Solbakken’s attention; The Norwegian national coach praised the player’s good form, thus opening the door to a possible call-up to the Nordic national team.
“He’s returning to the level he had before going to Benfica, maybe even better,” said the coach.
