AVS lost on Wednesday against FC Porto and was delayed in the fight for direct promotion to the Primeira Liga. The game that ended the 30th Round of the II League was marked by the expulsion of veteran striker Nené, in the second half, which left Jorge Costa’s team with less capacity to react and fight for points.

AVS fell to third place, with the same 59 points as Nacional. Jorge Costa’s team is going through a mini-crisis: in the last five games in the II League, they lost three, drew one and won another. Leads Santa Clara with 63 points.
It should be remembered that the top two in the II League go directly to the Primeira Liga, the third will fight with the second-to-last team in the main championship, in a play-off to determine the last team in the I League 2024/25.
