John Terry, glory of English football and former Chelsea captain, recalled, this Thursday, André Villas-Boas’ time at Stamford Bridge and revealed an episode on the plane heading to Hong Kong in which the then Portuguese coach would end up “fail immediately”.
“When AVB arrived, we went to Hong Kong and were sitting in economy class on a 13-hour flight. Then we had some young guys like Josh McEachran or Nathaniel Chalobah sitting in first class. It was part of AVB’s plan to show that no player was bigger than him and that everyone was the same”, began by telling Terry, on the podcast ‘Up Front With Simon Jordan’, continuing.
“Basically it wasn’t right and I said: ‘no, we’re not going anywhere until the young people go back to economy class and the first team players go to first class’. Everything started moving inside the plane and the AVB came out and said, ‘What’s going on?’ I replied: ‘No, it’s not your decision.’ In the end, we ended up changing. He tried to assert himself on the first day and I can guarantee that that plane wasn’t going anywhere. me, without Frank [Lampard] and the one without Didier [Drogba]”, explained the former English defender who recently entered the Premier League Hall of Fame.
