Franco Israel, Morita, João Muniz and Carolina Santiago and Patrícia Silva were present at Casa das Cores, in Lisbon

Sporting promoted another solidarity action this Thursday, on the sidelines of monthly social responsibility events promoted by the club and the Sporting Foundation, with the first team footballers, Franco Israel and Morita, the B team footballer, João Muniz, the footballer from the women’s team, Carolina Santiago, and the athlete Patrícia Silva, spending time with the youngsters.

This time, the quintet of athletes from the Alvalade emblem visited Casa das Cores, in Lisbon, where they were able to learn about the reality of the 12 young people who live there and with whom they spent some moments of socializing throughout the afternoon. An experience that is also marked for the various Sporting athletes, as several of them said in statements to the Lions club’s channels.

“We exchanged a lot of ideas, from football things to PlayStation games. We talked about a lot of things. It was a good initiative on Sporting’s part and a very beautiful afternoon for us, as we were able to spend time with these children and get to know a reality different from ours. It was It’s good to see the smile on their faces and, for me, it’s a pride to be part of actions like this and to see that Sporting is more than a sports club and that it’s on the right path”, pointed out Franco Israel, goalkeeper who joked in a comparison between his drawing skills and quality in goal. “My hands are better at defending than drawing [risos], but I thought it could be worse. I wasn’t great, but I wasn’t that bad either,” she admitted.

In turn, João Muniz, team B’s central defender who regularly trains with the main team, has already participated in solidarity actions on other occasions and highlighted another one promoted by Sporting and Fundação Sporting. “It was not the first time that I participated in an action of this kind and it is something that I really enjoy. I am happy to participate and I always leave these experiences very happy to have contributed to the happiness of the youngest. It is extremely important for Sporting to do these actions, as well as ourselves having more contact with other people and Sporting is exactly that, a club that goes far beyond the sporting part”, he defended.

Carolina Santiago also praised a different afternoon spent spending time with the children. “It was a different and very fun day. It’s great, in addition to everything else, that Sporting gave us the opportunity to make a little bit of a difference and I, in particular, really like that. It was good to share the afternoon with these children and see their smile”, said the 17-year-old footballer, shortly afterwards corroborated by Patrícia Silva, the lions’ 800 meter athlete. “It was a different day, but it was one of those that fills the heart. I believe it was a good day for them, just as it was for us. It was a good experience and I really take it with a full heart, especially because they were all super friendly “, he stressed.

Also on the Sporting Foundation side, executive coordinator Inês Maia Sêco discussed another monthly initiative promoted by all parties. “Casa das Cores has been our partner for a long time, we launched this challenge to them and they immediately said yes. Good thing because, in fact, it went very well and the kids were all very excited. I think it’s important for people to understand that sport is not just what happens inside. We can leave our mark in another way and that is exactly what we want with these actions, in which, in addition to being able to make a difference at the moment, we help to give a voice to all the institutions we work with, as well as how we can help change behavior”, he concluded.

Likewise, Madalena Vasconcelos, president of MSV – Movimento ao Serviço da Vida, which owns Casa das Cores, thanked the presence of elements of the green and white groups. “It was a huge joy for everyone and it was also, at the same time, very funny to see the way in which our children from other clubs welcomed Sporting’s players with such joy. For us it is always an honor to welcome Sporting and go to the games at stadium and in the pavilion, as well as having, behind the club and its athletes, our image projected because Casa das Cores lives thanks to the people who know it and who believe in the work we do here”, he highlighted.
