AIn the end, the FC Porto Classic against Sporting (2-2), recorded on Sunday night, was not Pinto da Costa’s farewell to the presidency of FC Porto. The president is expected to remain in office until the end of this season, while André Villas-Boas will have to wait to take on his role, reveals the newspaper O JOGO in this Tuesday’s edition.
The new president elected by the members has already said he hopes for a “quick” inauguration, but his management should only take office on May 12th, the deadline set out in FC Porto’s statutes. Only after this ceremony will Lourenço Pinto, president of the SAD General Assembly Board, be able to schedule the Ordinary General Assembly of shareholders to elect the new administration.
Again using the statutes, this call must be made at least 21 days in advance. All in all, André Villas-Boas is only expected to take office in June, but this does not prevent the new president from starting, now, some preparatory meetings for the new season.
Even so, Pinto da Costa should continue to represent FC Porto in the presidential stand in the remaining games, namely at Jamor, on May 26, in the Portuguese Cup final against Sporting.
