It could very well be Sporting’s first reinforcement for the 2024/25 version: Zeno Debast is close to reinforcing the lion with a view to next season. The information was initially provided by the newspaper Record and meanwhile confirmed by zero zero.
Central defender, Debast is seen as a young man with enormous potential in European football. At 20 years old, the (still) Anderlecht player already has six caps for Belgium and was in the squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. If nothing unexpected happens, Zeno Debast should also be included in the squad for next summer’s European Championship in Germany.
With a great physical appearance (1.91m), the central defender had been on Sporting’s radar for some time. According to what was possible to ascertain through our portal, the incorporation of Debast into the Leonine squad during the last winter market was on the table. The player, however, preferred to finish the season with Anderlecht, where he graduated and spent his first four years as a senior. This season, the defender adds 36 games.
In terms of values, signing the Belgian international means a considerable investment, never less than 15 million euros. Our portal knows, however, that in the lion’s den there is scope to invest considerably in strengthening the squad for next season. One small step away from the national title, Sporting is prepared to equip the team in order to think about a second championship.
At this point, although the agreement has not yet been signed, everything points to a happy ending and a new member in an increasingly long list of central defenders in Alvalade. Debast’s likely arrival could even open up space for some exit in the sector.
