Darwin ‘erases’ Liverpool from social media

Uruguayan forward has been heavily criticized for missed opportunities

Despite 18 goals and 16 assists in 52 games, Liverpool fans have little patience for Darwin Núñez. A season full of balls to the posts and away could have strengthened his numbers even further, and there is even talk of leaving Anfield.

In recent days there has been speculation about a possible departure – such as Barcelona replacing Robert Lewandowski, if a big sale is necessary to balance the accounts -, fueled earlier this week by the player himself, who apparently deleted all photos from his social media with the Liverpool shirt, leaving only everyday personal items, from the Uruguay and Benfica teams – only the profile one remained… and the one from the day he signed for the Reds. Jurgen Klopp’s departure also helps fuel the rumors.

Fans also noticed that the Uruguayan was one of the first players to enter the tunnel at the end of the 4-2 victory over Tottenham, this Sunday, with his head down. He came on in the 75th minute, when Liverpool were winning 4-1. Against West Ham, in the previous round, he had played 11 minutes. He hasn’t scored a goal since April 4, when he scored against Sheffield United.

Liverpool paid Benfica €80 million to sign Darwin in the summer of 2022.
