Armindo Monteiro denies running for president of Benfica

-

Armindo Monteiro denied, this Wednesday, that he is not a candidate for the presidency of Benfica, contrary to reports published yesterday. In an interview with Antena 1, the president of the Portuguese Business Confederation clarified the situation and moved away from the electoral race scheduled for next year.

“I must unequivocally clarify that I am not a candidate and never have been. I am a supporter, a partner, passionate about Benfica and I share the frustration that everyone has felt this season. That’s all. A candidacy has never crossed my mind”, he began by saying Armindo Monteiro, before analyzing the eagles’ season.

“Just as last season went very well, this one didn’t go very badly. Only Sporting were more competent than us. We were in second place and not fighting for fourth, like FC Porto”, concluded the CIP leader, guaranteeing respect Rui Costa’s decisions.
