Barcelona has guaranteed the first reinforcement for 2024/25

Guido Rodríguez, World Champion with Argentina in 2022, will reinforce the Blaugrana; Oriol Romeu will return to Girona

With the 2023/24 season blank in terms of titles, Barcelona is already looking to the next season and designing the squad that will be under the orders of Xavi Hernández, confirmed that the Spanish coach will continue.

According to Cadena Cope, the first change in the team will take place in midfield: Oriol Romeu’s failed return to Barça will last just one season and the defensive midfielder will return to Girona, where he was two years ago, to play in the Liga dos Champions in Míchel’s team.

Guido Rodríguez will replace Oriol Romeu, at ‘zero cost’, as the 29-year-old Argentine international is at the end of his contract with Betis. For the Sevillians, Guido, World Champion for albiceleste in 2022, he has played 171 games in four and a half years, after being signed in January 2020 from Club América, in Mexico, for four million euros.

The signing of Guido Rodríguez will not prevent, says the same source, Barcelona from going to the market for a midfielder with more established credits. Joshua Kimmich (Bayern Munich) and Martín Zubimendi (Real Sociedad) are the names mentioned, but they will involve a large investment, in the order of 50 million euros.
