Microsoft forces Bing on Chrome users again

-

Microsoft is, once again, applying techniques to try to attract users to the company’s products, this time by encouraging them to leave Chrome and start using Bing.

Several users are confirming that they are receiving notifications, within Chrome, encouraging them to use Bing’s AI. These notifications appear for Google Chrome users when Windows identifies that they are using Chrome and Google search.

The notification encourages users to use Bing’s AI, and if they accept, the system automatically places Bing as Chrome’s default search engine. The measure is carried out in such a way that the user does not even have to perform any action in the browser, and only checks the problem when they try to search for something again, and the results are displayed in Bing.

Microsoft has confirmed that the pop-up is legitimate, and is being displayed to some users. However, the company indicates that it should only appear once, and if it is ignored, it does not make any changes to the system.

This is not the first time that Microsoft has applied aggressive techniques to drive users to its services. One of the clearest examples of this is the fact that the company practically forces the Edge browser for some of the basic tasks of Windows 11, and makes it difficult to remove – although this will change, at least in the European area, with the new law of digital markets.
