Jez Corden from the Xbox Two podcast claimed that Microsoft would be developing a new native handheld for the Xbox. According to the journalist, there are several new prototypes being tested and he emphasizes that they are new models and not previous rumors.

Corden explains in the podcast that prototypes do not mean that new products will hit the market, but Xbox looking to launch a portable computer on the market would not be surprising, as the company has stressed that its objective is to allow players to play their favorite games anywhere. .

During the podcast, Corden emphasizes that Microsoft’s portable is not meant to run cloud games, but rather a native Xbox device. In other words, it will run games on the platform without the need for an internet connection or console, such as PlayStation Portal.

The Nintendo Switch has sold over 100 million units since its launch and now with devices like the Steam Deck, ROG Ally and Legion Go on the market, Xbox having its own handheld makes a lot of sense from a business perspective.

In fact, several analysts believe that the secret to the growth of the gaming industry at this time is the launch of portables, as console sales are stagnant and companies want to boost these numbers.

It’s not clear when Xbox might announce its portable, but several rumors claim that the next generation of consoles could adopt the style of the Nintendo Switch, adopting a dock. A few weeks ago, Phil Spencer said that the new Xbox will be “unique and powerful”.
