Gemini app for Android arrives in Brazil and replaces Google Assistant

O Gemini, Google’s current artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, is officially available for Android in Brazil. Country users now You can download the app directly from the Google Play Storethe platform’s digital store for tablets and cell phones.

Installing the application only works on Android smartphones with 4GB or more RAM and are on Android 12 or higher.

Gemini is the name of both the company’s chatbot, previously called Google Bard, and the language model created and maintained by the company.

Currently in version 1.5, it operates in a similar way to services like ChatGPT: through text commands, you can ask the AI ​​for answers, suggestions and even entire content.

The availability of Gemini as a chatbot alternative on mobile devices also marks the replacement of Google Assistant by the new feature. The idea is that, little by little, the company’s well-known help service will be replaced by the most intelligent chatbot.

When downloading Gemini, the Google Assistant application, if already installed, changes the name and icon to the new chatbot. At first, however, the change is not yet definitive and it is possible to revert the configuration.

To do this, open the Gemini app and click on your profile photo. Then, go to “Settings” and open the “Google Digital Assistants” item. On the new screen, choose which of the two will be your default assistant on the device.

But it is worth noting that native Google Assistant features are not yet available in the Gemini app, such as media control and routines via voice commands.
