Huawei is getting closer to total independence from Western technologies in the production of its smartphones. According to new information collected in the company’s supply chain, around 90% of all parts in the Pura 70 line are produced locally by Chinese companies.

The Japanese company Formalhaut Techno Solution dismantled some units of the devices and discovered that, in addition to the Kirin chipset, the most affordable smartphones also have screens, casings, batteries and lenses produced by Chinese companies.

Some suppliers are:

  • OFILM
  • HNLens Technology
  • Goertek
  • Sunny Optical
  • BOE
  • Goodix Technology
  • Crystal Optoelectronics

The forecast is that the Huawei Mate 70 line can reach the level of 100% Chinese parts, but, to do so, Huawei needs to find a supplier capable of delivering the photographic sensors that should replace Sony’s options.

Currently, the Huawei Pura 70 Ultra model uses a Sony sensor, while the Kirin 9010 uses some Western equipment in its production. In fact, this is Huawei’s biggest problem: advanced machinery for assembling its processors.

Even so, the Chinese government has injected liquidity so that local manufacturers can master the production of machinery and all the parts needed for a smartphone.

Furthermore, as sales of the Pura 70 line could reach the record of the Mate 60, the tendency is for Huawei to emerge even stronger, completely leading the Chinese market and on its way to selling its devices globally again.
