O Nintendo Switch is the only console that does not yet have an official version of GTA V. But this is about to change, even if unofficially. The modder group Superstar South used the game’s leaked source code last year to develop a port for the video game. And the result is below.

From the video preview released by modders, the graphical limitations of the console when trying to run the GTA V port become evident. Right at the beginning of the initial mission, which involves a bank robbery, you can see there are many jaggies, very low resolution and unnatural animations. And, of course, the performance is quite poor.

You modders emphasize that the port it is running in portable mode, that is, outside the video game dock, which tends to deliver better visual fidelity results and be more stable in overall performance. Along with this, they point out that the result of the recording that we see in the publication on the X network is worse than what they could see themselves while playing the first minutes of the game.

GTA V on Switch could still happen

The leak of the same source code also indicated that the programming made for the game was compatible with the Switch system. And this could indicate the possible development of a port of GTA V for the laptop. For now, this is mere speculation and we have no news on this matter. And, if the port is indeed happening, an announcement could come soon, possibly before the release of GTA VI.

GTA V was originally released for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2013. Since then, the title has gained improved versions in the Playstation 4 (Xbox One) and also Playstation 5 (Xbox S|X) generations. A comparison between these versions is above.
