Dfter an investigation by the European Commission, the body decided that the iPad’s operating system, iPadOS, must be subject to the same rules of the Digital Markets Law that govern iOS.
“The Commission [Europeia] concluded that iPadOS provides an important gateway for business users to reach consumers and that Apple enjoys an established and enduring position with respect to iPadOS.”can be read in the statement from the European Commission.
Therefore, the European body warns that Apple now has six months to ensure compliance with the obligations of the Digital Markets Law.
Among them is not only the possibility of downloading apps from alternative stores to the App Store, but also the possibility of selecting other Internet browsers in addition to Safari.
