Google will change the interface in landscape mode

Google is preparing very big changes for Android 15. The new features are not all visible, but they have appeared very clearly, to show the new features that are still being prepared. The latest comes for the Android 15 interface itself, which should work better in landscape mode.

Google will change the interface in landscape mode

Even though it has existed for many years, landscape mode has never been naturally well used on Android. The entire interface is poorly organized and there is a lot of space to be used, which leaves this mode to be of little use to users, especially as it is not optimized.

This could soon change, according to what Google is preparing for Android 15. This version should bring a big change when it comes to this panoramic mode, to be even more useful for users and, once and for all, have a tidy interface, with organized elements.

Big changes will arrive with Android 15

From what was recently discovered, the changes will be clearly visible on the lock screen, notifications and quick settings changes. These changes are important so that users can make better use of the screen space in landscape mode.

As you can see in the images captured, when you turn on a smartphone with Android 15 in landscape mode, changes will appear. The home screen will show the clock widget on the left, leaving an empty space for notifications on the right. When trying to unlock the phone, the keyboard will appear on the right, while the entered PIN appears on the left, making good use of the screen.

Changes should arrive soon with I/O 2024

After unlocking your smartphone, when you swipe down from the top of the screen, quick setting changes and notifications appear simultaneously. Each one occupying one side of the screen. This leaves no wasted space like Android 14. Apparently, this new design has been in development since September 2023 in Android 14 QPR1 Beta 1.

Google is expected to finish developing the new landscape mode interface for the home screen, lock screen, notifications and quick settings change. These should certainly appear when Android 15 is announced at Google I/O 2024, on May 14, 2024.
