YouTube is expanding testing of its new video feature, known as “Jump Ahead”.

According to some sources, the most recognized video platform on the internet is now testing Jump Ahead with more users with Premium accounts. This functionality, still considered testing, allows content to automatically advance from less interesting areas of the video, based on feedback and views from users in general.

A new “Jump Ahead” option should appear when searching in the video timeline, or when fast-forwarding, allowing you to “jump” to the most important area of the content. This feature can be useful for those who want to quickly skip promotional or unnecessary content in videos.

Anyone with YouTube Premium accounts can use the functionality normally. For users of free accounts, the functionality should still appear, but with an option for users to upgrade their accounts – therefore, it is also seen as another way for YouTube to get users to subscribe to the Premium plan.

For now, the functionality appears to be available only to users in the US and in the Android application, but it should soon start reaching more users globally.

It should be noted that this functionality has been in testing for a few months, but the list of users selected to test it was quite limited. Availability now appears considerably wider.
