Threads now lets you control who can cite your posts

-

Users of Threads can now easily control who can to quote your publications — a feature that has been tested by the platform for some time, but is now available globally to everyone.

According to the Instagram boss, Adam Mosseriusers can allow anyone to cite a certain post, limit citations only to people they follow, or even disable them (almost) completely.

“I hope this helps keep Threads a more positive place and gives people more control over their experience. If you have been using this feature, I would love to hear what you think,” he wrote in a post published on the platform.

The ability to limit who can quote your Threads posts is now available to everyone. You can allow quotes from everyone in Threads, only people you follow, or disable quotes from posts entirely. I hope this helps keep Threads a more positive place and gives people more control over their experience. If you’ve been using this feature, I’d love to hear what you think.

Threads citation control is specific to each publication. On the compose screen, there is now a toggle right next to the “Publish” button to allow users to modify the settings (if they wish).

By default, the “Any person” option is activated, and you need to tap on it to select a different one. As mentioned, there are also the options “Profiles you follow” and “Only mentioned profiles”.

Pretty useful, don’t you think?
