Apple has been developing the system to integrate Face ID under the front screen, which would allow the sensors to be removed from the upper area of the screen. However, according to the latest information about the technology, its integration may take a little longer than initially expected.

According to analyst Ross Young, from https://twitter.com/DSCCRoss/status/1768707359374012759it is unlikely that Apple will integrate this functionality before the iPhone 18 Pro, scheduled for 2026.

Internal sources at the company point out that it has been developing the technology, but there are still some adjustments to be made, which may take some time before they are integrated into the final devices. As such, it is unlikely that the technology will emerge before 2026, more specifically the iPhone 18.

At the same time, the analyst also points out that the Face ID technology under the screen will only be available for the Pro and Pro Max models, leaving all others with the previous technology. The change should only reach all of the company’s devices with the iPhone 19.

It is currently unknown whether, with this change, the iPhones’ front camera will also be placed behind the screen. The current technology is being developed only for the Face ID sensors, and the camera involves other features to take into account.

Although devices with cameras behind the front screen are not something new, their quality is still something to be desired. The final content tends to be of low quality, something that Apple certainly does not intend.
