The number of cases of neuromuscular and rare diseases has increased in Mato Grosso do Sul in recent years. Aware of the seriousness of the problem for families, who need to seek specialized care outside the state, the former undersecretary of Public Policies for Women in the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, Lu Azambuja, candidate for federal deputy for the PP, has as one of the main goals in the Federal Chamber, the allocation of resources for the construction of the first Reference Center for the Treatment of Neuromuscular and Rare Diseases in the State.
“These regional centers have been planned by the Ministry of Health since 2014 and unfortunately so far they have not come to fruition”, argued Lu Azambuja. She wants dignified and resolute medical care for people suffering from these neuromuscular and rare diseases.
Lu Azambuja also explained that with this center, there will be an increase in the number of professionals specialized in the treatment of these diseases, avoiding the displacement of patients to other states. In the Federal Chamber, she intends to fight for the realization of this project.
“Meanwhile, while the Center is not a reality, we need to simplify the process of authorizing treatment outside the home, ensuring dignified and resolute medical care for people suffering from neuromuscular and rare diseases”, explained candidate for federal deputy, Lu Azambuja.
