This Sunday (12/03) registrations for piano students who wish to be scholarship holders at the Piano Festival in Ouro Preto end. In its second edition, the event will offer masterclasses by Cristian Budu, one of the most famous Brazilian pianists in the world. In addition to being the artistic director of the festival, he will lead the scholarship holders through workshops and presentations to the public, in 10 days of programming for students.

To apply for the scholarship, you must be an advanced piano student. The application asks for videos in which the person appears playing pieces of free repertoire, which includes concert music. It is also necessary to send a repertoire list with solo, chamber and orchestral pieces that the interested party intends to play at the festival. Check out the announcement and more information about registration in this link.

The 10 selected fellows will have lodging and meals covered by the organization of the event. In addition to classes with Budu, they will have the opportunity to perform alongside the pianist, both in the festival’s own concerts and in the special closing presentation. In all, there will be 5 concerts with fellows and Budu, plus three presentations by guest artists.

The opening night features Cristian Budu in concert with cellist Antonio Menezes, a Brazilian who is one of the greatest on his instrument. Pianist Gustavo de Carvalho, violinist Jovana Trifunovic and cellist Robson Fonseca present classical repertoire on 04/22. The night before (21/04), there will be a performance by pianist Ricardo Ithaboray and violinist Jonatas Silveira, with a selection in the field of popular music that pays homage to the Minas Gerais songbook and the work of Milton Nascimento.
