Actor — innocent in the case in question — told the story during his appearance on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s podcast
Bryan Cranston surprised by telling a curious case in which his name was involved. The actor of Breaking Bad (2008) revealed during an appearance on the podcast Dinner’s On Meby also actor Jesse Tyler Fergusonwho was briefly suspected of a murder.
This is not the first time the actor has spoken about the case. In 2016 he published this and more stories in the memoir A Life in Parts. Cranston was invited to tell what happened again after Ed O’Neill revealed during a stint on the program that he was invited to join the mafia in the city where he grew up, in Ohio. “I was wanted for murder once,” he joked Cranston“hold this, Ed O’Neill!”

Cranston explained that he and his brother spent part of the 1970s traveling around the country on motorcycles. When they arrived in Daytona, Florida, they were broke, so they took jobs as waiters at a restaurant overseen by a “grumpy chef named Peter Wong, who hated everyone”, said the actor. “There was just no way you could see the good in him.”
The actor said waiters frequently complained about Wong and dreamed up hypothetical ways to get rid of him. “Some said, ‘I think you’d use your own wok on it,’ ‘I’d put it through the meat grinder’ — we laughed about it all,” he recalled. Cranston. Ferguson he added that there are “millions of ways to kill someone in the kitchen.”

At a given moment, Wong disappeared and this coincided with the brothers’ departure to the next city. “What happened was he was an insecure guy, and what do insecure guys do? They like to feel big,” he said. Cranston. “So he always carried a wad of cash. He’d go to the dog track: ‘Let me bet on this and bet on that.’ And someone said, ‘A-ha!’ And a young girl in a trap said, ‘You’re cute, come with me.’ And he said, ‘Okay’.”
Apparently the chef was taken somewhere where he was hit in the head, robbed and placed in the trunk of a car. Before the culprits were found, the police questioned the restaurant employees and asked if anyone had ever talked about hurting them. Wong. Although the jokes they made were nothing more than that, they recognized that there were two people who participated in the joke, who were no longer in the city: the brothers Cranston.

“Little did we know they put out an alert to find us,” he said. Cranston. “We were somewhere in the Carolinas, I think, at that time. We were just moving forward, I can imagine, if someone actually pulled us to the ground with guns drawn! But before that happened, they put the pieces together and realized they had witnesses and cameras at the race track, saw what was happening and arrested them. But we were so close!”
