On the sides, skirts painted black, recessed door handles (to improve aerodynamics) and the number 5 in high relief at the base of the C column. The wheels are 20 inches and have a diamond finish. At the back, LED lighting in the taillights is a highlight.

Interior and equipment

Inside, just like the BMW i7, the cockpit of the new BMW Series has few buttons, to make the design cleaner. The Shy Tech concept, which debuted on the BMW iX, makes it possible to control the car’s functions using voice commands, gestures or touch. In the cabin, the highlight is the refined finish, which even has a panel with carbon fiber details and crystal elements, such as the Start&Stop button, for example. The instrument panel (12.3″) and the multimedia center (14.9″, with wireless Apple Car Play and Android Auto) come together in a single piece. And it even has a camera, which displays (on the instrument panel) what is coming in front of the car.

In the equipment list, in the meantime, the BMW i5 has several driving assistants. Through Driving Assistant Professional, it offers adaptive speed control, Lane Keeping Assistant and Parking Assistant Professional, where the i5 parks 100% on its own, without the need to accelerate or brake. There are also visual and audible alerts for cross-traffic conditions, risks of rear-end collisions, involuntary lane changes and frontal approach control and prevention, among other functions.

BMW IconicSounds Electric includes soundtracks (composed by renowned composer Hans Zimmer) to provide greater emotional connection between occupants and the vehicle. In short, the car simulates the noise of the engine – after all, the electric engine is completely silent.

Colors

There is also the Digital Key Plus, a virtual key system, compatible with iPhone and Samsung Galaxy smartphones, which eliminates the need for a physical key and facilitates access to the car exclusively using your cell phone. And finally, the sound system of the new BMW i5 is designed by Bowers & Wilkins. It has 665 watts of power across 17 speakers. In total, the sedan has ten body color options. They are: Alpine White, Sapphire Black, Carbon Black, Sophisto Grey, Mineral White, Phytonic Blue, Oxide Grey, Brooklyn Grey, Cape York Green and Fire Red.
